# 🔧 Prerequisites

Before continuing, make sure your setup meets the **Hardware Requirements** and the following environment prerequisites.

#### *System Requirements*

* **Bare-metal server**
* **Ubuntu 24.04 LTS or newer**
* **Linux kernel v6.8.0.60-generic or higher**
* **HyperThreading (HT) / Simultaneous MultiThreading (SMT) disabled in BIOS**\
  \&#xNAN;*(these features negatively impact node performance)*

> ⚠️ **Kernel Warning**\
> There is a known issue affecting Linux kernel versions\
> **v6.8.0.56-generic → v6.8.0.59-generic (inclusive)**\
> which can cause Monad clients to hang in an uninterruptible sleep state, severely impacting node stability.
>
> **Recommended:** `v6.8.0.60-generic` or newer.
